About Whistler:

The pedestrian only Whistler Village is the beating heart of a social community where locals bring their up-for-anything attitude to every shop, restaurant and gathering place – its energy is palpable. For those in search of calmer moments, the buzzing hub of the Village is also a haven for physical rejuvenation and quiet reflection. Whether you find it in the therapeutic baths of the spa, the inspiring artwork of the museum or the dimmed lights of a five-star restaurant, is up to you. From the cultural to the culinary, the educational to the entertaining, the Village’s boutique shops, museums, restaurants, galleries, events and festivals deliver countless options for all.

O.K. just for you, where may Hetherington be and where is it mentioned to be of remotest interest, on this thread? You have privately mentioned about certain posters who go off on a very obscure tangent. I am concerned re yourself!
I prefer to collect UK, British Commonwealth esp Pacific area ( not excluding West Indies/Canada ) and Western Europe. At the bottom of my zone of interest is Eastern Europe and communist countries.

Several of the horses in that set remind me of my dad, who no doubt placed bets on many of them over the years. Desert Orchid was a favourite of his (and of many other people too).

A Happy Day note:

The January page of my Leunig 2021 calendar has a signpost with
four signs pointing to the four quarters of the plain on which it stands. One opposite pair
of signs say BETTER and WORSE, the other pair say DIFFERENT and SAME. The signpost is
in the midst of many Leunig Mr Everybodies, each large nosed and single eyed, wandering
aimlessly in their own directions, with a red flower here and there, and a white bird here
and there.

Two early panels of the date portion of the page contain Mr Everybody speaking to a Leunig duck.
In the first panel Mr Everybody says: "The world is changing". The duck replies: "It's always changing".
In the second panel Mr Everybody says: "We are living in strange times". The duck replies: "When were
we NOT living in strange times?".

Sorry I can't show the images, but the description conveys the Leunig view of our times.
Here's a much earlier philatelic tribute to his cartoon social commentary:

.
Australia, 13 Aug 1998: Leunig stamp set,
including the Teapot of Truth, on first day cover

I love teapots (if they pour nicely).

Did I see something somewhere, "When we connect, we feel better" on a stamp, perhaps with a Hello?

Thanks OldDuffer1 for advising us, when in Scotland, not to spend time looking for poison dart frogs...
But if you find yourself in Central or tropical South America it would be worth keeping an eye out for them.
Also, be sure to take your dictionary so you can check on aposematic toxicity.

Thanks also to uncadonego for a nice Happy Day report. ;)

Apparently "herps" is a relevant term used by the in-group (see below).

Some further advice on Herpetology, thanks to Wikipedia:

Not to be confused with Hepatology.
Herpetology (Greek ἑρπετόν [herpetón] — reptile, creeping animal) is the branch of zoology concerned with the study of amphibians (including frogs, toads, salamanders, newts, and caecilians (gymnophiona)) and reptiles (including snakes, lizards, amphisbaenids, turtles, terrapins, tortoises, crocodilians, and tuataras)...

The definition of herpetology can be more precisely stated as the study of ectothermic (cold-blooded) tetrapods. Under this definition "herps" (or sometimes "herptiles" or "herpetofauna") excludes fish, but it is not uncommon for herpetological and ichthyological scientific societies to "team up", publishing joint journals and holding conferences in order to foster the exchange of ideas between the fields, as the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists does. Many herpetological societies have been formed to promote interest in reptiles and amphibians, both captive and wild.

I don't know who the pretty boy is on the cover but he reminds me of my great old mate Frosty, 3 time living legend (oldest dog) of the Victorian Corgi Club.

Some nice pics inside which I will try to share upon my return. Lucky that Street Of Avalon won the Australia Stakes tonight at the Valley & paid my plane ticket. :)

PS His sister is in the next Orlando Grove, had 2 starts for a win & a second, & is $14. I think Zesty Belle will be to good for it so I will kep my money in my pocket.
