Pets, pets, pets. They are all so cute!

I am a live-in caregiver in a house with 8 cats and a dog (and 3 people). Technically just the dog and one cat are mine, but I consider them all my pets since they get all of their care and love from me almost exclusively.

Here is the group:

Whiskey: Rat Terrier Extraordinaire and mostly neurotic from lack of canine company.
Image
Smokey, my 16 year old, 17lb. (7.7kg) bully
Image
This is Twirp and he is a little odd. If you move a piece of furniture, he will sit in the vacated spot for hours simply looking around at the new perspective. He is a thinker.
Image
Benny was feral until he was almost grown, so he is generally a bit skittish. He loves being outside in the playpen.
Image
Joe is the 'keeper of the gate'. He has real outdoor privileges, and spends most of his time sitting on the front wall, protecting against intruders. He follows Whiskey and I when we walk around the block to make sure we are safe.
Image
This is Princess Lilla. She is alternately the snottiest and neediest cat I have ever encountered. But she is awfully pretty.
Image
Meet Vegas, the big cat with the little head. I think that every day is a new day for him because he wakes up and investigates everything as if he had never seen it.
Image
Junior has the softest fur I have ever felt, and the loudest purr I have heard. He is a very handsome cat, can snatch a hummingbird out of mid-air :( , and is a perpetual troublemaker. (Probably something psychological from having a target on both sides of his body. ) He poses for the camera like the rock star that he is.
Image
I don't have picture of Ginger who is the only cat who stays exclusively with the couple I care for. She is very old, and fat, and has a very sour disposition. She is also Joe's mother.

And I have to add a picture of Cue, who is a ringer for Rai's cat. He disappeared in November of last year and we like to think he found a new home. Ria . . . did you take my cat?  Since Cue looks just like Trufita, I can also say that he is the most beautiful cat in the world!
Image
And last in this mega-post, but first in my heart, this is Pepe who died last year at the age of 21, which is how old I was when I rescued him. I had him for half of my life, and he helped me through many rough patches. Definitely man's best friend. He was about 8 yrs old in this picture, but it is my favorite.
Image
Whew! And in case you are all wondering . . .YES, it is a lot of cats to have in one house, but it is a big house, and they have a huge playpen on the back patio which keeps all the smelly business outside where it belongs!

Cheers,
Kristine

This other picture is not very good because it is made with the phone. It is specially for Kiszrick, to show de long tale of Trufita.

Image

My wife and my daughter found him abandoned in the street two and a half years ago. They rescue him from my neighbor's old car engine. He was there crying all the night. He was about one month old and he looked quite savage although he was not bigger than my hand.

Both, Trufita and Cue, probably descended from the same common trunk: "The European long tail savage cat"

You have a nice cat family :)

Jessie and James from Possum are lovely too

Best regards

Rai,

Thanks for the picture. I could tell from the first one that Cue and Trufita look very much alike, all the way down to their eye color, which is identical.
We always though that Cue was part Ragdoll (which is really a breed) because when you picked him up, he lost all ability to control his muscles, and went completely limp, which is characteristic of the breed. You could literally throw him over your shoulder, and he would hang there like a beach towel.
We miss him very much, especially Junior, who was his litter-mate. They were very close, like Possum's Jesse and James.
I am sad I don't have any good pictures of them snuggling like the cute one Possum posted. This is the best that I have:
Image
I learned from that lesson though, and have taken many pictures of the other pair of litter-mates, Bennie and Twirp.

Here's my lazy sod tonight.

An hour before a brushtailed possum came in through the upstairs cat door and wandered down into the kitchen to eat his kibble....during the excitment the cat hopped under the table until we'd evicted the possum and then hopped back onto my lap and promptly went back to sleep as you can see.....

BTW he DOES have ears...

@Kristin, nice to see there are more of cat nuts around :D Me and my girlfriend have six cats and three permanent dogs. And every few months we have new abandoned animal for some time (depending how long does it take for it to find new home).

Few months ago there was Dobie, litle black girl :)

Image

Image

And Dobie, bit grown up, at her new home with some new friends in Austria, Alpine region!!! Hope she barks well in German

Image

Then there was Yupi, the best stray dog I have ever seen, so calm and nice!!! She is now in Slovenia, near Ljubljana, and her new owner uses her as pet model for bracelets and other dog fashion she makes (she is all around designer)

Image

And right now we have yet another dog, puppy actually, we took her yesterday from veterinary station where she was on recovery after stuff found her wondering around with two terrible cut around her body (almost full spiral cut along body, she has probably 20 stitches). In despite her deep wounds she is very playful dog. Right now we are looking for potential adopters for this girl. She will stay with us till we find someone and in meantime she can fully recover :(

pitronix,

That is so great that you help care for and place, abandoned and neglected dogs.

I was never crazy for cats, having grown up with only dogs around. Since taking my care-giving job, I have been forced to live with them, and they have a way of worming themselves into your heart!

I was most surprised by their individual personalities. Each one is so different in how they play, seek affection, and interact with others. I have a bully, a snob, a troublemaker, a clown, a simpleton, a couch potato, a guardian, and a nervous wreck.

During my search for the pretty black cat that went missing, I found this little guy:
Image
I can't believe he didn't get eaten by the coyotes that run around my neighborhood! He was hungry, but healthy. I kept him quarantined for a few weeks, to make sure he didn't have any lingering problems, then a friend of mine adopted him. His name is Dexter. He has the most beautiful orange eyes, with a bright lime-green ring around his pupil. His growth must have been stunted as a kitten, because he hasn't grown at all.

And I just realized the picture of my late chihuahua didn't work. It is such a cute picture, I will try again.
This is Pepe who was my pal for 21 years:

Poor Miss Jessie.....

The garage door was open and Miss Jessie had apparently climbed up onto the door via the roof of the car. When the button was pressed to close the door, we heard scratching of claws on the metal and Miss Jessie sliding down very quickly, like she was on a slippery dip.

Not sure who got the biggest fright, her or us, but she was unhurt thankgoodness. :)

Hi, here is picture of Shugi after she recovered from her wounds, and grow up a bit (think she is bit overweight now thanks to my mother in law and her strict diet while some of our rescued dogs are in her custody at village  )

Actually this dog now reminds me of a dog from one cartoon which I try to remember name of, but dog in it looks very a like this one (small head and big stomach and funny fur)

Let me introduce our cat Ms Fluffy

Image

She is a purebreed Maine Coon, whose breedname is Kiwicoons Tequila, the offspring of DK Thielunds Aerosmith and Kiwicoons Ivory and Ice. Whats scary is that Ivory and Ice is also daddy's mother and the grandfather is called DK Theilunds Mozart.

They have DK as they are from a Danish breeder in Hedeby, Denmark. Ironically Tequila is grey and blue, but her mother and grandfather are white and short furred, Tequila's father Aerosmith is like her, tortiseshelled coloured and very furry.

Shes 6.5 years old but acts like a 12 week old kitten, shes very cute, talkative and bossy.

Here she is sleeping on the bed, she is not a fan of the sheets being changed. This cat is my bane and my partners pride and joy, shes very close follows us around, cries when my partner leaves and sleeps with us on the bed.

Image

Shes over 1 metre and weighs just over 6kg (Shes a bit underweight and a fussy eater). She lost 6 inches of tail when it got infected from a tom bite years ago.

My team St.Kilda has played in 3 Grand Finals since 2008. The last time the Bulldogs played in Grand Final was 1961. So I am not sure what point you are making!

She gets a bit impatient with these pesky stray pheasants that come into the garden.

My girls

Post by Lena »

This is one of my spoiled pets, Miss Emily. She is a 12 lb. Seal Bi-Color Ragdoll, and this is her enjoying their outside playpen. I made the pad for it, the pad cover, all the fleece toys, my cousin made a pillow cover for them. They also got a winter set done with orcas.

This is my other fluffball, Miss Pancake. She is an 18 lb. Ragdoll cross. She is enjoying the upper part of the outside playpen.

My pets don't have legs, but I love them!! Big ones are gift from my father on Christmas.

Well mine have short legs and seriously long ears but I love them even if they are stubborn.

That is SO cute Possum, I had to call my DIL to have a look at Miss Jessie and we just cracked up.

Just last night one of my cats was asleep on the lounge with her paw over here eyes and I thought to myself that the light must be bothering her, are we weird or what?
