Hi Cover 2021,

Many thanks indeed, it never seems to amaze me of how many new ones I come across out there, that I haven't got, I'm certainly very interested in a number of them you list:-
Mildura VIC 3500, I don't have
Murray Bridge SA 5253, I don't have
Oakleigh VIC 3166, I don't have
Rozelle NSW 2039 ( hand written addressed to USA), I don't have this, would be nice as a placeholder.
South Yarra VIC 3141, I don't have
Glenelg SA 5045, I don't have

I don't have any of yours, you seem to have some interesting named ones, I would really like to get them all off you, how can I please?

Just something about me, I have fond memories of Australia, growing up in Brisbane, Southport, as a child. We used to go to lots of places around us, I went to Musgrave Hill State School, which was a short walk from our house 124 Smith Street, Southport. We used to play all around our area, I remember a little stream by the race course we played in, at the time we were there was a bad bush fire, one of my good friends at school, his famially moved up to Darwin, shortly after they had a very bad tornado hit, (Kevin Corsley), I often think about him. Hope they all pulled through, even though I was from England he was a good true friend. Me and my brother used to end up in fights a lot, not because we started it, it was because we were British, those were the days being chased by the kids mothers holding a broom, yet they starred it.
My father worked for The Gold Coast City Council, laying big storm pipes the same diameter as him tall 6ft, there was even a picture of him in the paper at the time, along with two others.
I always thought Australia was a fantastic place, we had to come home, unfurtunately my mum got home sick, and my sister couldn't handle the heat, it was always touch and go, it put her life very much in danger because of the condition she had at the time, she grew out of it long ago, and has a famially in Canada.
Regards, and stay safe

Cover2021 -- Thanks very much for the offer. I will send you an email.

Des -- I can just post them to you. No need to complicate things. No need for postage, either. I must make a list as you and Brad have.

Thanks very much Cover2021,

By all means if there is something your collecting, I will certainly keep any out for you, I'm more than happy to pay for them in some way, or other.

I have created a spreadsheet, from the Stamp Preview PO FDI list 1975, around the era. It is a good start, needless to say, there are ones not in it, but atleast, I know what I have got or not got, and it's condition as well.

Hi Desmond,

Pleased to be able to help build your collection of silver jubilee fdc's and have attached a photo of the 6 covers. As a first step towards a swap, would be interested in looking at any spare fdc's that you may have which were posted at the Claremont PO between 1970 and 1980 with typed address.
Kind regards

Hi Cover2021,

Many thanks indeed for the covers, being in England they are a lot harder to find, so yours will certainly fill some holes in my collection. What luck/coincidence you have the plain Perth to be able to swap it for the Nedlands PMK, which again, I didn't have, very much appreciated.

As I have a list of what I have, I don't tend to end up with spares, or duplicates. However thought. I do know of a couple of 1977 Australia QEII Silver Jubilee FDI FDC's, same as my cover type, with a Claremont FDI CDS, but they are unaddressed, let me know if any use, if you would like one. As I have an idea of what your looking for, I will certainly keep my eye out for you, I will run anything I find by you first.

Thank you, will do, you will get yours quicker, its cost about the same to send yours from one place in Australia to another. Yet this half way around the world, has cost about the same.

Hi Desmond,
Thank you for being so prompt, a great selection of covers which would certainly add to my collection, would be pleased to take the lot but would need to find a few more covers to send to you to even the numbers up.
Are there any more postmarks that you are chasing as I have hundreds of spare decimal fdc for issues 1966 to 1980 and a few beyond ?

Kind regards

Hi Cover2021,

I really did think I was really going to struggle to find anything to be quiet honest, I'm glad you are happy with them, especially having a typed address. They all need to be bid on, some ending later today. I will see if I can get all of them for you, if they are all OK for you. You can always keep an eye out for any other covers for me, I have just found 3 more SJ covers today. I emailed a guy in a Stamp club/forum, he ls sending me, Albany, Lilydale, and Carnarvon, I'm absolutely amazed how I am finding them, so I will be adding them to my list shortly as well as a few others.
Some of the covers might help Brad to, to be able to get the 3 X Racehorse covers, I'm sure people will find things for me, at some point in time.

Hi Cover 2021,

I have bid on 10 of them, and I have one in my cart holding at the moment, I want to see if I can get them all sent to you at the same time from all the various sellers, to try and keep postage costs down. I will need your address please to get them sent to you.
I haven't done the horse racing cover, for a few reasons:-
1 Has Brad got something for you?
2 it's only 1 stamp
2 it's on a plain envelope
3 it costs over 14AUD for it, even all the others are about 4AUD each
If you really do want it, please let me know.

Some of the bids finnish next Thursday, so hoping I can get a majority of them atleast for you.

Hi Desmond,

Thank you for your update, I was under the impression that these covers were out of your spares box, however, if you care to give me the auction details I will bid direct for the ones that you don't have which would simplify things, the other covers that you do have or win from the auction could be consolidated into one letter to save on postage.
As suggested we will forget about the single race horse cover on the plain envelope.

Kind regards

Hi Cover2021,

As I said I don't have spares, there are only certain covers I am particularly concentrating on. I don't go to auctions, and buy cases of covers, that I just don't collect, plus I live in the UK, so picking up Australian covers are more difficult.
To be fair to you, I would rather get something that is useful to you, I am getting all 11 Covers, subject to winning them, and will get them sent to you. They are all located in Australia, except one from memory is Spain.
As for the one which is a buy it now, I will get that to, just saves a lot of hassle for me, then I know I have got you some wanted's, in return.

Apologies missed one of the links off the list, I was counting them, and they didn't add up:-

I noticed some of these have been listed since October 2020, so we should be in with a good chance.

Hi All,

Just something I found quiet some time ago, listed on Gumtree Australia, and it is still available. The Australian First Day Cover Collection, its a detailed album of 9 FDC's in it, unfortunately the pictures of the album pages containing the covers, is extremely poor quality, I don't know if it was done internationally, especially as the first page is easy to read. It does contain funny enough a Silver Jubilee PO cover with a plain Perth PMK on it, I asked the question when I first saw it.

Unfortunately I cannot send my address as I do not know how to send an email through this medium, however, if you can email me then I would be able to forward my address.
Also could you apart from the 1977 Australian Silver Jubilee fdc what other fdc's do you collect?

Hi Cover2021,

I meant to say, I'm trying to keep my FDC's collections, each being very specific, and very complete. I have many pre postage items, letters, POW censored mail, ship mail, mulready envelopes, and even a Spanish 1816 parchment ship letter.

Needless to say, I have a lot of victorian covers, letters, penny blacks, two penny blues, penny reds, all have FDI PMK's, or very near to it. I have lots of different types of mail service type of items, Zeppline letter pouch, rocket post, bicycle, hand glider, hover craft, balloon, parachut etc.

I do normally stick to GB covers, but some are only available in other countries, eg paddle steamer Post. One I am after which I saw, but unfortunately didn't buy it, is 'drift' mail, and no its not a signed cover by the Drifters πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

As for these type of commemorative covers:-

1948 George IV & Queen Elizabeth Silver Wedding, I have a number of different country covers, but have a way to go.

Hi Desmond,

Thank you for the scans and outline of your comprehensive early English collection there is nothing that I have that could add to that and also am light on for the Australian 1970 Royal Visit but have attached a scan of a few parachute and a rocket cover that may be of interest. Unfortunately the scans are not coming through will try again tomorrow.

Kind regards

Hi Cover2021,

It's only a small snap shot, everything is on cover in some way or another, I don't collect stamps themselves.
Hay don't worry about anything, something I have noticed when you said you attached pictures of the 6 covers there was none, same as now. When you add them, you have to select the inline button on the picture, I don't know if it's the result of not doing it?
I know I done some, but when I previewed them they shown OK, but I got told off for not doing it. This forum is strange the way you do things.

I tried to send you an email through the stampboards system. I assume you have not received it. Perhaps if you send me an email using the stampboards system, we can correspond. I also have a number of Claremont FDCs.

Thanks

scrute
Hi Scrute,

If you read up the thread I am hoping to get 11 different Claremont PMK FDC's, pictures of the attached also. He's got a number of covers for me.
I also mentioned I hadn't forgot about you, I would like to get you something in return for the couple that's come from you, please let me know, and I'll look out for something.
I live in the UK, so getting Australia covers, or suit cases of them is very difficult, but I would like to get you something, as a thank you.

Hi Cover2021,

I assume the horse racing FDC's are for Brad, I would upload them onto his post.

Thanks for showing me the other covers, they look interesting, and good. They appear to be celebrating events, I know I have some events, but I have to keep focused on what I am specifically collecting. I would rather you give them to somone who would suit there collection/collections more than mine.
I really appreciate your time, and trouble, of you posting them, hay no problem about quantity of covers from me, in return for what your giving me. I'm just glad to get a number that I don't have.

Hi Desmond,

That seems to have worked, however the horses fdc should not have been included as yours are the Silver Jubilee

Kind regards

Hi Scrute,

Thank you for the update, apparently there has been a technical clique within the stampboard email set up compounded by me being a new member but we will work through it.
Look forward to more details on your other Claremont postmarks and how many were addressed to Bishop Bernard.

Kind regards

Hi Cover2021,

Four down, seven to go, it turns out the 28/09/1970 Def 4 block cover is located in Spain also (Barcelona), I'm trying to get it sent to the couple sellers in Spain (Gerona), just to save hasstle, and better to send them all together from Spain I think. Those were the days when people actually travelled, I have been to both places some years ago, I the good old days. Staying in an all-inclusive, including 🍹🍸🍻πŸ₯ƒπŸŽ‰

The last seven end on the 18th, so not long to go.

Good luck with getting ebay sellers to consolidate your order.

If the final despatcher letter doesnt arrive, how do you sort it out?

You have to watch when you pay, as once you pay the seller count down clock to pack & post commences. If he is late, he is penalized

Sadly some buyers think ebay is a cottage industry

Hi,

Thanks, but it's not eBay, and I wouldn't try it if it was, and 2 sellers, are actually husband, and wife. I didn't know it, he picked it up, and told me so.

As for the distance (55miles/88KM) between the two different household sellers, I have attached a picture, as I said I have actually been to both places, and I know they are not particularly far apart. The distance is not like in either the US, Canada, or Australia, were you have to travel absolutely hours, before you get to another town, how I know that, I've travelled around the US, my sister lives in Okotoks, Canada, and I used to live in Southport, Brisbane.
I will see what happens.
