Several days ago, on April 14, 2022, French Polynesia issued a stamp and SS to mart 140th anniversary death of Charles Darwin. It shows Darwin in front of a yellow and red Banana bunches. I still don't have it (I collect Darwin stamps).

It is indeed a traditional sport of French Polynesia to run with fruits, usually Banana, tide to a rod. I think it developed from the way they carry fruits from the fields to the market. Beside the 2000 stamp that you posted above, French Polynesia issued at least other five stamps show this traditional sport of running with Banana or people carry Banana and other fruits in years: 1967, 1972, 2002, 2012 and 2021.

I was just mounting these stamps today when I realized that there were bananas lurking in the background. Apparently ripe bananas are good food for lorikeets!
