Correct, the section is blank. Is it related to a low post count?

We do have occasional glitches in the eMail function. Just keep posting, it will all come good when the backroom boys have a chance to work on it.

Jose - a tip for you and all members -

Always click on ANY web hotlink you are posting, and then click on the "URL" button in the posting box, which then means the full link is always shown -

http://stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=80062

If anyone cuts and paste YOUR link anywhere, they get this meaningless, unclickable thing -

Mods:

May I post images using imagevenue.com, like this?

(I find it far more convenient and easy to use than Imgur and it’s a very well known site for message board users, not some fly by night site. But I wanted to check before I post).

Thank you.

I have a question!

I'm not receiving notifications - and I think I saw somewhere that one can receive them. I have only posted on three threads (this is No. 4) and my profile says I am watching them, not that I am subscribed, but when I go to one of those threads my only option is to unsubscribe. I have bookmarked them, so I can go in and check occasionally, but I would like to be notified. So the question is - what should I do?

Hello Vict0riann and welcome to Stampboards. Unfortunately for technical reasons the notifications aren't really working at the moment. Most of the time members don't get any notifications, and occasionally the system sends out dozens of notifications all at once, which is not useful.

I suggest using the "View your posts" link at the top right of the page whenever you check in. This will give you a list of all threads you have posted in, with the most recently updated ones (i.e. ones with new posts) at the top of the list.

Hi!
I've recently posted a question in "in NO question is too basic or silly - you ask - we WILL help you with it!" about my stamps, but the reply was about me violating the Forums' rules, sorry, I don't get it. There was no instructions in the invitation email. Can you please help me with it?

Did you actually read the email you received upon having registered in the Forums? ;)

It clearly states that your FIRST post should be in this thread - https://stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10277&start=24450 - to introduce yourself.

The email further contains all useful tips for youк comfortable and useful conversation in the Forumas - the Forums' rules (https://stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2556),

how to upload images (https://stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=90770), etc.

I am not that new anymore and I am not sure this is the correct thread, but I can not search for the correct thread as my "search" is not working anymore. Anybody else has the same problem? I noticed this problem already on Saturday.

Whenever I try to search or use the "View your posts" link I get:

"Sorry, search could not be performed. More information about this failure has been logged in the error log."

Several days ago, I posted a reply to a long-standing topic. Since that time, several additonal posts have been added to the topic.
I wish to edit my post as it could be considered immoderate in tone and I wish to tone it down.

However, I have well exceeded the 1 hour limit for editing a post.
Is there any way to get around this limit?
Or is the post to live forever unless/until someone flags it?

And on a related subject ...

I wish to enquire from one of the moderators whether I can edit my post and/or how I can so edit.

The last entry in the FAQ is:
"How do I contact a board administrator?"
This tells me that I can use the "Contact us" form.

However, I cannot find a link to a "Contact us" form anywhere.
And I do not wish to send this question to only the Sheriff, as he is busy sending out great items to us all.
So do I need to pick one of the volunteer moderators and a request that that specific individual give me assistance?
Or should I always post such questions as these to this forum?

Best regards

Ok some house keeping first. Perhaps you overlooked it as there has been 6 years between joining & making your first post. Go to the thread below & introduce yourself as you were asked to do in your welcome email:

After one hour posts stay put. All members can edit at will until then. So the obvious trick is to read them carefully FIRST before hitting submit. :!:

All clearly outlined in 'The Rules' that clearly you have never read, and have never made an Intro Post in the 'Roll Call' thread - which is essential -

https://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?p=62737#p62737

And adding pars and spacing is also wise and check the formatting you have used - again the PREVIEW button helps you there -

Admin

17. Please Present Your Posts Thoughtfully and NEATLY

"You are what you post". You can come across to others here as being either slap-dash and sloppy, and near illiterate - or neat and tidy and professional and intelligent - the choice is always yours.

Most wise members even take a little time to use the "PREVIEW" button to look over their posts, to see if the image has loaded correctly, to see their HEADING makes sense, and uses normal punctuation, to see whether the "Quote" feature worked, and to check the colour and bold and highlights are coded correctly etc. All posts can be edited for ONE HOUR by any member. After that they stay here forever, so READ the content carefully before hitting SUBMIT. :!:

And they use PARAGRAPHS every couple of sentences. Vast globs of type with no paragraphs, and no capital letters, and no spell check, and weird formatting, and lazy abbreviations, might be just fine for quick text messages to and from 12 year olds, but we hopefully will not see it on www.stampboards.com If we do see it, after being warned, we may not see you here very long - that's a promise.

Headings or posts all in CAPITALS is regarded as "shouting" and very rude on the web - do NOT do it here please. What you post is here forever. Lazy text speak abbreviations in heading like 'plz' and 'tks' etc are also not cool. So do it carefully the FIRST time please.

"You are what you post". Remember that. And others judge you on that. Please help us keep this board looking neat and professional. We take huge pride in how well presented and polished this board has always looked - it is WHY we are the World's most successful stamp board by far, with way over 10 MILLION posts. We all can do our bit. :)

Hello all,

I registered yesterday and setup my profile which included a signature with a link to my podcast. It has since been removed. Is there a glitch or were there rules again advertising that I overlooked? I apologize if that is the case.

Moderator Comment.

If it wasn't a stamp related podcast, it would have been removed as per The Rules, specifically:

23. Signatures

We do not wish to restrict your right to display personal views, ideology, etc. but do ask that you remain respectful of others in your signature lines. NO gifs, smilies, emojies etc, or still or moving images may be used, in any signatures. They MUST be in the English language, and we also strongly ask that they be in monocolour. Overly garish ones we will change to mono. And two (2) lines in typical font size is absolute maximum we allow, as you can see looking at other member signatures. Dealers or large auctions can link ONE main business website etc, if they choose. ebay/TradeMe/Delcampe etc member's account names or links to them etc may NOT be used in signatures, but there is one thread where your specific current lots can be freely highlighted to others if you choose! NON stamp related websites may NOT be used as signatures, NOR Facebook, Instagram or similar group links. Nor can links to other stamp bulletin boards, but a link to your own personal stamp blog is acceptable, as long as the content is benign. If you have any questions as to exactly whether something is acceptable, send a private message to Admin[at]stampboards.com - If your signature does not comply, the Moderators WILL amend it with no notice or advice.

Stampboards search engine. I cant get it to work.
stampboards search.PNG
Hello Stampboards experts.

Every time i try to search a topic, the results are either member profiles or "No Results".

Example i search Great Britain Seahorses, or Australia KGV stamps and no results come up.

Am i doing something wrong or is there a problem with the search engine at the moment ?

The search box at top right of each page works perfectly however. :)

Using the search at the top of the page, I would not be searching for Great Britain Seahorses... I would just type seahorse. :)
