Stamp Cinderellas & Local Posts - Superb Online Reference Site

Post by Lakatoi 4 »

I thought it would be appropriate to have a link to a superb reference site remain at the very top of this forum.

It is perhaps the best online resource I have found for Cinderella's and Local Posts (including bogus types).

And the link is just a single click away:

'LOCAL POSTS OF THE WORLD'

Still in progess but some nice stories like the F.H. Bakker Express Company Revisited are currently online.

Hi,

More information about Channel Island Cinderella and Local Posts can be found at:

http://www.ciss1950.org.uk

It's the website for the Channel Islands Specialists' Society, this is their 6oth year, and was celebrated in Guernsey a couple of weekends ago. They have a forum on there if you need any questions answered, probably by me, I am the webmaster for the Society,

Hi Brummie,

'Fraid so, but the info on APDS is a bit limited, probably the best publication is 'Stamps of Alderney' by Peter E Newell, first published in 1982, Second Edition in 1988. ISBN : 0 948251 33 6, which is the old format, there are now 16 numbers to an ISBN.

I don't know whether there is a new ISBN or not, but this has been out of print for some years now, but they do come up now and again in auctions,

Phil.

Here is my favorite website that covers a lot of revenues. The emphasis is on Germany, but all counties are an acceptable topic:

Does anyone else collect United States test stamps? I'm interested in any and all U.S. test stamps - coils, booklets, convertible booklets, ATM panes, or sheet stamps.

Below is a photo of a dummy booklet pane produced by the Bureau of Engraving about 35 years ago (but just listed for the first time in the 2012 Scott Catalogue as TDB46b). Notice the pane has tete-beche pairs at the bottom. Sorry - I only have this one copy.

This is a fascinating forum to peruse. I plan to spend many more hours here.

I'm not sure if this is an appropriate thing to do but have just come across a resource that might be of interest to others and thought I'd share it. It is a low budget but seemingly inexpensive bulletin to which one can subscribe called POSTER STAMP BULLETIN edited by Walter Schmidt who is listed as a reference author on the stampshows.com site.

The full info is:

The Poster Stamp Bulletin
Walter Schmidt, Editor
3654 Upper Applegate Road
Jacksonville, Or. 97530 USA

I'm looking at the latest copy of that right now and it says "dues" are $20 - $30 dollars. Nowhere do I see a website listing.

I hope this is helpful to someone. :?: :?:

I know they are out there I need one for my collection and postal strike exhibit. Also any infomation on 1953 french postal strike covers? The 1953 french maybe a cinderella stamp as the strike lasted a week and no used versions are available.

and as an example for modern (Austrian) local post activities (1988-1998): http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Humorarchiv/Lokalpost_Gardenia

In case anyone is interested for the last 12 years I have been working on and producing CD catalogues of "unofficial" "locals", "cinderellas" or whatever you want to call them from around the world.

I have so far issued 18 different catalogues and am now working on 2 further ones.

Anyone interested in further information can contact me either through this site, or directly at phillipo@012.net.il

Hi. second post on this board and maybe you maybe able to help me. Not sure if I am on the right thread, or not. I collect mainly Australian Pre decimal, Australian Cinderellas, Liberty loan bond stamps, war savings & booklets etc. I have the six 'Delandre' stamps.

Unfortunately, I just missed out on a set of 12 War Chest Stamps on eBay...'Buy it Now' sale....they went for $300 (maybe that's why) I am still on the look-out for a set of these stamps, if anyone can help, also the varying types of Liberty Loan Labels. Thanks....Shane
