How does the 1990 retail value for Australia stamps stack up today?

Post by scarcev »

I was gifted a massive 20 box collection of unorganized random stamps and have been sorting and learning ever since. No order to any of it, no real organisation and most still in original bags from the PO (FDC's, Decimal, Pre Decimal and sheets) so bit (well a lot) of everything.

As I have been wading through it last few weeks to get some order about it I came across these in a random envelope. My question is are these values from 1990 (that's the stamp mark the envelope had so I figured they were obtained in 1990) how do they compare today?

What would be the stand out in this group?

All advice appreciated, thanks in advance.

Well that was a great gift to receive that is for sure!

The prices of the QE era stamps look very much like dealer retail prices of the time and the majority of the QE shown here won’t be any higher now than those original prices, if anything some of them like the Olympics issue are so common you probably wouldn’t get close to that original price.

However, the Australian States and earlier KGV/KGVI will have certainly held their value better and would form a very nice collection as a starting point for those areas, particularly if they are MNH.

Look forward to seeing more of you collection. But do try to keep your images to a limit of 5 per post so they don't take too long to down load in countries where internet speeds are slow.

Some larger images of individual items would make more enjoyable viewing.

Thank you

Please READ your Welcome email and act on it. We do not send it to waste our time. :!: :!:

These were full boat retail approvals prices then, and retail today is pretty similar. Low to medium priced stamps seldom go up wildly in price.
