Hi all

I have a Germany 5mk believed to be 1902 variety

I have measured the perfs at 14 x 14

The online catalogue at stampworld does not list these perforations for either variety.

The stamp to me looks more like the 1902 version looking at the pictures I've seen though this issue does not have a watermark ?

As seen on the images attached this stamp has a watermark as seen on the 1905 issue

Can anybody help identify this stamp

Thankyou

Reason: Expanded very vague heading, to make more sense to members, (read Rule 10) and added attachent inline.

According to the Scott Catalogue, the 1902 version has perforations of 14 1/4 - 14 1/2 (26 x 17 holes) where as the 1905 version has 14 1/2 (25 x 17 holes). More telling is the watermark, which the 1902 version does not appear having one listed, but the 1905 version has the lozenges watermark which is displayed on your reverse scan. Looks to me it's the 1905 type.

According to Michel this is number 97 B II, B for the 25:17 perforation and II meaning it was printed during WW I ("Kriegsdruck")

According to the Scott Catalogue, the 1902 version has perforations of 14¼ - 14½ (26 x 17 holes) where as the 1905 version has 14½ (25 x 17 holes). More telling is the watermark, which the 1902 version does not appear having one listed, but the 1905 version has the lozenges watermark which is displayed on your reverse scan. Looks to me it's the 1905 type.
Looks like we need to remind members how to show fractions on the board: this is a long thread, the more recent shows the more applicable ways of doing it.
