Hi Alan

I was the bidder on these, it was £325+ fees so just under £400 quid in total but plenty to go at. I will get scanning when I have the time there's a large box with plenty of examples in.

regards
Mick

Have never ever seen the 'Food For Britain' 5/10d parcel label cutout on a cover. Never.

As along as it has relevant Australia backstamps it appears genuine use, despite the cutout not being tied to the cover.

Totally philatelic as write up says, but if I advertised it for $150 it would sell readily I am sure - cool thing. :)

These were the labels it came from -

Well done Mick - I did give the auction a gentle nudge to start with, but for me they are a curiosity issue.
Glad they went to someone we know!!

The update to Powell's "Postal History..." is progressing slowly.

I am trying to refine the dates of the appearance of "QUEENSLAND" within the KOKOPO date-stamp.

Loughran's update of Powell had the date of the transition from a complete bar (14) to beginning of the appearance of 'QUEENSLAND' as '27NO17' as seen in the excerpt below.

In a collage I have prepared, shown below, it is not quite obvious the word appeared in November of 1917. Seems as if even as late as December the word was still obscured.

I would like to state perhaps 'JA' or 'FE18' or as late as 'AP' as the date of its first appearance.

Opinions?
Time to quit. Was told what I should collect.
