A small flaw: Broken Crown. Not listed in the SG catalogue.
Check your stamps- perhaps you will find the similar flaw and let me know!

Nice Downey Blocks asmodeus !!!

I'll shoot up to the mothership and dump out my 2d's to have a look for a similar flaw. I could be awhile, so that should give you enough time to think about what you want in return for those Downey Blocks !

I think it is a crude fake! Compare the perforation on the right side- it is a little bit uneven. The perfs through the stamp are in one line.

From my Rarity Page -

Victoria 1864 1d Laureate, Wmk '1' - P13, variety 'PRINTED DOUBLE': SG #108ca, on De La rue paper, with clear 2006 RPSV certificate stating: 'That it is genuine' and noting no faults or defects. Without doubt the very finest looking of the 3 known copies. Kellow's photo page 147 of Handbook, of one with a corner missing, shows the same long green vertical line in front of the Queens face - not a green crayon line, as it first appears, but a strange "proof" of the double print occurring.

Kellow states on page 148 this appears to be a case of a sheet actually passing twice though the press, (i.e. a true "Double Print") rather than the far more common "Kiss Prints". Current SG Cat £1,500, and even so, with only now 3 copies recorded in 150 years - is one of the vastly under-rated Victoria major printing rarities, that truly should have a zero added to today's price.

Is there a separate Gibbons cat number for the 3 half d with Pence error as one pictured below? Gibbons makes a lot of different varieties for all watermark errors but can't see many different cat numbers for plate errors.

This is SG N18 e/f- for me it is the f, because I´m not able to say which plate this flaw came from. "e" is from Plate 12 (thin rule) and "f" from Plate 29 (thick rule). To plate this flaw you need the right margin. The plates are philatelic ones not the official ones- these were 15/585 or 15/586.

Here is an old favourite of mine from Charkhari, SG 15c:

Image

It was sitting in my collection, ignored because the stamps are fairly minimal cat., for years. Then I finally noticed that Row 2/1 has the listed 'CHARKHAPI' flaw. I won't be able to retire on it, of course, but it makes a nice conversation piece ... when visitors have outstayed their welcome :D

Not a howling rarity - it occurs once on every sheet of eight stamps - but a good one, and not listed by Gibbons, even after 131 years ...

Yep. They tried harrow perforators at Srinagar, briefly, in 1878, and dragged one of them out occasionally later on for the odd sheet, but it was never a success.

They never built a machine for the 4 and 8 Anna values. By the time they appeared, in 1879, the experiment was already dead.

Only 1878 ½ Anna stamps (the basic letter rate) (SG 102) are at all common perforated - they're catalogued at £16 mint, £19 used. This is a sheet of them. (They never seem to turn up with selvage intact.)
