Help with Hobart datestamp on Tasmania Pictorial

Post by mrrass »

Hi everyone.

I've recently been bitten by the "Datestamp on Tasmanian Pictorials" bug. I've purchased "Post Office and Datestamp Compendium" by John Hardinge and "A Guide to Circular Datestamps on the Tasmanian Pictorial Issues 1899 - 1913" which are brilliant publications and have been a great help so far.

However, I can't for the life of me identify this Hobart datestamp. I am very much a novice and I'm sure the answer is obvious but any help to catalogue it would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like a Hobart machine cancel to me and not a CDS handstruck stamp.
Late use 1912?

Thanks Greg. That would explain why I can't find it. Do you have a reference for machine cancels at all?
