Damn straight! The new way of inserting images is a breeze, now I just have to work on the nuances.Global Administrator wrote: ↑23 Jul 2020 19:29.
Yes a brave new word for ALL of us!
Do a few and it becomes second nature.
Still FAR easier than using photobucket and imgur and removing the ''s'' from https and all that messing about!

It appears I have to purchase McCleary!PhilipAdams wrote: ↑21 Jul 2020 09:59On matters "small", I want emphasise that none of the varieties I identify are new discoveries.
When I returned to stamp collecting I thought that I would make my mark with Decimal varieties, so I started to buy up sheets and blocks with the hope of discovering plated constant varieties.
Too difficult! I then discovered the beauty of pre-decimals and particularly the Kangaroos and off I went to explore those areas.
For a break, I occasionally return to the decimals. I bought the three-volume ACSC decimal catalogue and most importantly, I discovered David McCleary's notes on Australian Decimal Varieties.
Now, armed with the ACSC and McCleary books and with past assistance from Bryan Young (dec.), the consulting editor of the ACSC decimals, I can identify where many recuts, etc., should be located - even though half the time I cannot see anything!

castores,
All the background shading appeared 'whiter' than all the other stamps I had out and they stood out, so in answering "where" you've actually answered me. If nothing really stood out for you then I'm just seeing things (eyes can go crazy looking at these little brown pieces of paper).Where exactly do you think there are retouches? What is special about the base of the first A?
Thanks. On a more positive note, I really like the type of material you are posting. Just provide a bit more detail!

Thanks PhilipPhilipAdams wrote: ↑05 Aug 2020 07:12castores,
The pace at which you are presenting this material is leaving me breathless!
Sorry, but I don't have answers to many of the question that are interwoven with the images.
I will say, though, that a couple of the "plate flaws" look more like surface abrasions.
Well done,
Philip
Philip,PhilipAdams wrote: ↑05 Aug 2020 07:29Peter,
Might be good to have a break.
Can I suggest that when you do get back to these, that you consider putting the stamps in some sort of order - by date or ACSC number, for example.
I find it difficult to give constructive feedback when birds are followed by QE2s, are followed by a commemorative or two, etc.
I like that you have settled on a given format for your headings.

Mine too !!!PhilipAdams wrote: ↑05 Aug 2020 07:48And I hope you keep on enjoying and sharing your material, because it's a great hobby (even though my children have no idea what is fascinating about some bits of paper!)
