Small tech glitch we are having with a few accounts, often newer members.

Keep posting - we are working on it!

Remember, if you really want others to be able to contact you, the dead simple path is to leave your email loosely disguised in your post - then others can respond direct to your query, in a day, or week or month or year -- even non-member 'lurkers' - and there are MILLIONS of them - who find your query via google 'SEARCH' etc, can then readily contact you.

To save getting your Billy24@gmail.com account getting harvested by 'Spam bots' simply disguise it as something logical like - Billy24 [at] gmail dot com - nothing could be simpler.

I also seem to have lost my edit button.

All members can only edit their own posts for 1 hour after making them, after that they become permanent. That will likely be why the EDIT button has disappeared.

If there is a significant error in the post that you would like amended you can always contact one of the Moderators http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=250 who may be able to help. Alternatively, just add another post correcting the first.

Members can NEVER edit someone else's post, so you would not have an edit button on JKA's post that you illustrate.

The screenshot was to show that I currently do not have a button to email another member. I added the remark about editing after I noticed that I could not add a pic to a previous post. Of course I understand that I would not be able to edit someone else’s post. Anyways, things were out of context.

A one hour limit on editing? Whew! I have never encountered that on a forum before so was flummoxed. Does the one hour edit limitation extend to deleting a post? Does the one hour clock start after your last edit?

Because it is a very sensible idea, and we have had it for 12.5 years, and many leading Bulletin Boards have it. You are the first member in our 20,000+ here, who finds it strange.

Members cannot delete any posts.

However, within one hour you can delete the content of the post.

Sometimes people accidentally make duplicate posts. Then they may delete duplicate content, and just replace it with "duplicate post".

I added this paragraph to show how the editing is shown in the post.

The time window exists because the flow of discussion gets disturbed if the content of the post is changed or deleted. If you edit your post after someone has made a post, it will show there. See my previous post.

That was me Zener. You now know you can receive emails from other members. Go back to that email and hit reply to send me an email. If I reply to it then you know the email system is fully functioning.

When I select the other user's name, there is an option to contact that member but the option appears to be inactive. Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thank you!

I must admit am not really bothered about not receiving them- as long as the "backlog" does not suddenly all arrive at once leading to an hour wasted deleting them all!
