Hi Everyone. I’m a newbie collector from the mid north coast of NSW and stumbled upon this amazing community in my search for knowledge. I’ve started by restoring the various family world wide collections that have been lying around and there is plenty to keep me busy there for now. I’ll learn as I go. Thanks to Glen and all who share here. I’m looking forward to participating!

Gi'day, I live near Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and just I've been a stamp collector for the past 60 years and really only interested in Australian stamps. Although I think I have collected every stamp from elsewhere that has come in the mail. I did join a stamp club way way back in Oakleigh, Vic but moved way. I stopped collecting in 1994 as I felt AP was issuing to many stamps for their real need and cost rising and with a young family. However, recently a friend donated all her Australian stamp collection to me which has now got me hooked again :) I use the Seven Seas Hingeless album for my collection and to my surprise the company is still operating and has past years of pages available. So I have ordered 1995 to 1999 pages with the last ones arriving today. I think I will stop there as also my friends collection stopped about there so I would just have to buy it all. So its now time to go back and fill my missing holes in the Kangaroos, KGV and KGV1 collection.
Its fantastic to see a forum like this dedicated to stamp collecting as I have a few questions that someone may be able to help me with.
Cheers

Hello members, I have re-ignited my stamp passion, especially during covid.
I enjoy collecting pre-decimal Aussie especially KGV Head varieties. Love the hunt and filling those empty spaces in my albums!
Thanks for the welcome!

Hi everybody,

I have been collecting stamps for over 60 years. Originally from New Zealand, I have been in Australia since 1977.
I specialize in New Zealand errors, plate blocks and booklets.

I also collect Australian booklets and have taken over production of the Australian Booklets Catalogue originally put out by Sel Pfeffer.

More info on that can be found at https://booklets.sergent.com.au/

My New Zealand errors collection can be seen at my website

Hi everyone.
Thanks for accepting me as a new member.I have read and looked at articles on this site before and i have found it to be very interesting and educational as well as helping me in the hobby. There are people on here with a vast knowledge in most areas of collecting and hope to learn a lot more from them now.Have been collecting for about 40 years mainly Australian up to 1985 era.Having collected most of these and all the wmk's then i started my focus on the kangaroo and kgv flaws and shades.Still dont know if this was a good direction.
Thanks .

Welcome Kenny, but I have no idea what a PNC is?
Presumably those who collect them will know what you mean.
Have fun anyway.

Hi all,
PNC's are "Philatelic Numismatic Combinations", the numismatic equivalent of a First Day Cover for philatelists. The idea was conceived by an American who taped the special Kennedy commemorative 25c (I think) coin onto an envelope on the coin's day of issue and took it to a post office to get it cancelled... After much effort, it was cancelled and the postmark confirmed that this coin was "cancelled" on its first day of issue. The American formed a company called "99 Company" in California and was very successful until he had a breakdown. Other companies offer the same type of subscription service. Search Google for "99 Company" and you should find a lot of interesting information.

Wow Bill, I thought I knew, PNC's are Plate Number Coils, a modern U.S. specialty, the charm being in the tiny number which appears below the center of the middle stamp in a strip of three, five or seven.

Apparently these are quite contrived philatelic/numismatic concoctions.

So which type does Kenny collect?
Perhaps he will expand on it.
