wow. Belgian catalog shows €700 for a complete set in used condition, being it the one but last stamp from the set I had to 'improvise'

Excellent buy Aerogi.
And when you find one like that it makes it all worth while,
I'm sure there will be a few more to come.

Yup, difficult to believe that the were genuinely issued by the post office and that the people concerned agreed to it.

Since you put a high bid of over 250 Euros on the lot, you could consider making a donation to Bread for the World. 8-)

Too bad more covers weren't kept intact, but as collectors we can't have everything.

Adding this key value to my collection from Trinidad & Tobago.

Apparently there are 5 versions:
1) issued in 1983 undated SG651A
2) imprint date 1985 SG 701
Stanley Gibbons mentions that there are several imprint dates, but does not separately list each one
I find that a bit weird to be honnest, and even dissappointing. Michel, YT and Scott does list them all seperately.

3) imprint date 1987

I will also make other (Colnect) collectors happy too. Some of them of which I have exchanged a lot, noticed I had a list 'FROM THE BOX' and were asking what is happening. I told them that eventually a good amount will end up on my swaplist will result in some nice exchanges.

Yesterday that list I added to my collection went to 1000 items.

It became common for some small countries to produce excessive re-issues with different imprint dates for no other reason than to fleece collectors.

Gibbons opted not to itemise the different dates to discourage the practice.

It's unfortunate that some justifiable date variety issues are thereby ignored the Fiji buildings series being a case in point.

3) imprint date 1987
4) imprint date 1988

5) I am the only one that have the imprint date with 1989 in Colnect. I am missing all the other versions though :D

Be careful about soaking these. Some have dodgy (dry?) printing and the ink washes off, like with some of the Dutch East Indies stamps.

Always nice to find some from these harder to find countries.

Especially the little bird stamps are nice to collect trying to find the different year issues. I have a few with a year number that are not in colnect yet. But will come back with that after I have finalized the whole box

imperforate Burundi stamps from the 1984 Christmas stamps, cut from the block.

I do have a rather large number of imperforate issues from Burundi, but mostly mint or CTO. It is the first time I encounter postally used versions.

I think 90% is African related, and the rest is Asia and a bit of America.

The Brunei stamps includes the key value $10 (Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah (Series II) (1985-1995)), but I have already a complete set. So these will go on my swaplist later on.

A pity the Soudan stamps are not canceled

Very happy with the few Liberia stamps, very difficult to get them used. Also the train stamps from Congo are a nice addition.

As well as the much poorer quality screen printing in your used copy, the perforations are very rough - so you suspect a postal forgery here?

Or maybe a local “official” reprint?
