Hi.
David from Cardiff, Wales.
I started collecting during the recent COVID pandemic and first had a rather specific topical interest in Chemistry related stamps. This led to a
“philatelic collection of the elements”.
Then I started a more traditional collection of GB til decimalisation.
Then New South Wales, and Australia. Now back to filling in gaps in GB KEVII and KGV.
I’m enjoying reading the in-depth articles on this forum.
Cheers :)

Andy from the Gold Coast here :)

I'm just starting to get back into oz stamps after a 40 year short break. lol.

Have purchased a new 7 seas hingeless decimal album 66-87 for starters. Revisiting my 12 year old self.

This time around will be going for perfection - stamp wise.

I used to visit dealers religiously in Melbourne in the late 70's/mid 80's - when the stamp market was at its peak. Dealers were virtually on every corner in the CDB. Halcyon days.

Look forward to spending alot of my future 'stamp time' here.

Hello all,
I am Shannonboy, I live by Joplin, MO. and I have been collecting stamps since I was 6, I'm now 52, and my love for stamp collecting has grown, as has my experience, and knowledge. My Mom introduced me to stamps, and so every time I work with them, I always seem to feel her presence. Good memories! My specialty is U.S. revenues, and tobacco, and I have amassed quite a collection, and yet I have grown to really enjoy Worldwide as well. My collecting year range is mostly 1850's to 1960, used, and mint, I do stretch the years a bit on newer stamps in mint condition, but to be honest, I really enjoy used stamps more, as they seem to me, to tell more of a story, and history, which I love...
I've enjoyed many a good read on this site, and finally decided to join. The information value alone is phenominal. Thank you for making this site, and my Greetings to all members, collectors, and Connoisseurs of the Stamp World, the one True Great Adventure. ♡♡♡

Hi all, Dave from Sydney.
Used to collect as a kid, took it back up about ten years ago. Those collections lost in the mists of time and some 25 moves between 1979 and 1999.....
Started off collecting Australia, learned a bit about Roos and KGV, was intimidated by the complexity and price.
Branched off into Aus territories, Christmas, Cocos, Norfolk, AAT (in particular). Got bored, turned to Ireland, have built up a reasonably comprehensive collection, learned a bit about overprints, was intimidated by the complexity and price.....
In the middle of that , I retired due to ill health. My Aussie collection is complete, more or less, from 1950. I've lost interest in the Territories, except for Antarctica. I'll probably get rid of the balance to fund the earlier Aussie stamps that I'm missing from 30's to 1950. I don't know if I'll ever have the confidence in my knowledge of Roos/KGV to complete except in simple form.
Have learned a lot from the threads on here about Irish overprints, definitives, and more recently, SOARs, some impressively knowledgeable people on here.
Someday, I'll get organised and sell what I no longer want, and reduce my focus to a more manageable area of interest, which is cheaper and takes up less room....

Hi,

After 30 years away from stamps, I returned a year ago. I had a sudden urge to buy 1000 Commonwealth stamps and then 1000 World stamps. I am busy, and thoroughly enjoying, sorting them and putting them into albums. I have also bought Great Britain sets for some birth years within my family, as well as some 2023 commemoratives.

A few weeks back, I was given a gentleman's collection of stamps and coins.

The family were going to bin them if no one had collected them by the end of the weekend. Well, along with about a 1000 coins, I have a few thousand World stamps, collections of Australian and New Zealand stamps, and first day covers and envelopes. This will keep me busy! I have also purchased two Penny Reds, one of which has my home town for its cancel.

I am delighted to have found this forum and look forward to learning from you all and one day contributing.

Many thanks,

cozendon

Hi all

just a quick message to say hello - i'm a newbie to Stampboards. I'm based in the UK and recently came across my old childhood stamp collection which re-kindled my interest. Still trying to find out my real interest areas - so far as I can tell its basically anything old.

The older the better in fact. It doesn't seem to matter where in the world they come from, I find the old stuff both fascinating and historically interesting. So, if there are any ideas or suggestions about what to do with "old stuff" or where to get some really interesting stuff most people have never heard of then I'm probably your go-to person!

Thanks, look forward to interacting,
DaveEd

As a footnote, Chinese convention follows the name of any city by

shì
city
The descending tone marker on shì
shows it is a fourth tone syllable

All the cities shown in the previous Google map

Hi everybody,

My name is Paul and after many years browsing the forums here, i decided its time to join up.

I started collecting stamps of the world in 1970 and obviously i am still going. My first album was a "new world" album fixing the stamps with hinges. Out grew that pretty quick and started using cheap stock books.

I was not happy with the cheap stock books due to stamps often falling out as i turned the pages. So when i started work, i bought 4 Hagner folders and Hagner pages as i could easily arrange my collection as it grew. My albums and pages are probably worth more than the stamps.

I am not in it as an investment, but just the enjoyment of adding to my collection. There is of course many more cheap common stamps that are still not in my world collection, so the cost is kept relatively under control.

I will be retiring from work in a few years time, so that will allow me to study my accumulation in more detail.

See you in the forums

Regards Paul

Hello all you fellow collectors out there.

I have been collecting stamps since 1952. I am situated in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada.
I collected mainly Canada. but have a lot of surplus stock (you name it, I may have some) for anyone that specializes in any particular area. I also have some foreign stamps. I have been collecting the Mint NH GB wildings lately. I am open to either selling or trading for material that may be of interest to me. So long for now.

Welcome Reddy.

Australia has been one of the leading countries issuing stamps that celebrate astronomy.

Hi everyone

Hassan here from Egypt and currently living in the UK. Been collecting stamps since the age of 9 and my interest grew more during the lockdown. My interest is focused on early Egyptian stamps, FDCs and postcards.
Started an Instagram page recently to share whatever I believe is rare or of historic value ☺️ https://www.instagram.com/egy_philately?igsh=MW9zNmc2MDlkbW1tYQ%3D%3D&utm_source=qr

Looking forward to gaining more experience from this forum 😇
