The Stampboards AFL Footy Tipping Contest is starting for the 2010 season, and all members are welcome to join in the fun.
The 2009 winner, Lakatoi4 was a Rugby Union supporter, and the 2008 winner Clino, was from the USA and neither of these winners had ever seen an AFL match in his life, so anybody can win. We had over 30 starters the first year, over 50 last year, and had a really good time. Let's try to break the 75 barrier this year - it might get me a 10th grain of sticky rice as my annual payment for Modding on the Board (even though I have never seen any of the rice I am owed) .
If you have a few hundred hours to waste, here is the (huge) thread where we played out the competition in 2008:

And in 2009

We will have lots of prizes, as many of our members from previous years can attest to, including surprize prizes for selected rounds, and certainly there are end of the season prizes for the top three tipsters plus a prize (subject to the rules) for last place.
Join up and have some fun - no skill needed, just five minutes required once a week to post who you think will win the eight matches. And you do not need to know anything about Australian Rules Football to play.
And anyone comng in late can join in for up to eleven weeks after the season starts, although you will be at a disadvantage tp those who came in from the beginning.
The Footy starts on
25 March, so get in on time.
Don't wait - subscribe now. No skill is required to play, so overseas members are definitely welcome, as long as you pick Geelong every week.
And of course, it is completely free.
The Rules:
A list of all forthcoming AFL matches will be listed each Monday (or Tuesday if there is a Monday match) during the season.
All you need to do is predict who will win each of the eight matches to be played over the following weekend.
One point will be awarded per correct selection. No points will be awarded for any drawn matches (unless somebody actually predicts a draw of course).
The total number of correct selections will be aggregated over the entire season and the winner(s) shall be the person(s) who picks the most winners of the 176 games over the season.
All AFL results, the progressive AFL ladder and a progressive list of where you stand on the Stampboards tipping contest will be posted weekly.
All predictions must be posted and board time-coded by 7:00PM Australian Eastern Standard Time each Friday (if there is a Thursday match, the Thursday deadline will apply). Late entrants will recieve the "away" team for any match where the deadline has passed.
Posts may not be edited after 7:00PM on the night the round starts.
If a member does not post in a particular week, or misses the deadine above, he or she will be awarded the away (second named) teams as his/her selections.
Any member who does not post for three weeks running, or for six weeks in total once having joined will be considered to have withdrawn from the competition.
Any member within four points of winning the "last place champion" prize MUST make selections in the final round (Round 22) or will be automatically disqualified from winning this prize.
Members will have up until round 11 to join the competition. Any member joining after Round one will get an averaged aggregate total of all existing competitors as a starting score.
If there is a tie for any of the prize positions at the end of the season the winner will be chosen by a countback. So if a tie occurs at the end of Round 22, the winner will be determined by who led the competition at the end of Round 21. If still a tie then the leader at Round 20 etc....
Any member who will be away during the season has the choice of being automatically given the "away" teams as their selections, or may select for all the weeks they will be away in advance. Go here:

for the complete 2010 AFL fixture. This will give you all the matches to be played while you are away.
The winner will be announced the Sunday evening immediately following the completion of Round 22 on Sunday 30 August.
If this is unclear in any way, please post your concerns and I will clarify anything you may have a problem with. I discovered a long time ago that I am not perfect - not even close.
