Trivia Quiz - 35th Birthday Bash

Post by brian31stamps »

This page is especially for MARGO.

As an ice breaker at our recent birthday celebrations I prepared a trivia quiz that I thought non collectors and collectors alike could answer.

However, I was duly informed that the questions were too hard even for stampers. The winner did get a score of 20 out of a possible 30.

So Margo please :P go gently on us this Sunday. Thanks from me Brian.

September 2007 Newsletter

Post by brian31stamps »

By being members of this chat board you get to view our club's latest newsletter prior to release to our members. Anyone who lives in the Macarthur Wollondilly areas and not currently members of a stamp club would be made most welcome at the Campbelltown District Philatelic Society - details elsewhere on Clubs & Society threads.

A great resource Brian, and one a lot of clubs might aim at emulating. :)

A lot of hard work in there for sure. :)

Thanks for the mentions there of this website, and glad to see a few of your members are hooking up via initial contact here. 8)

One little point this website does NOT have ".au" at end as posted above ... it is always just a simple:

www.stampboards.com

And sadly google does not offer any help for those that type in the ozzie version:

http://www.google.com/search?q=www.stampboards.com.au&rls=co ... lz=1I7GGIH

Great Newsletter once again Brian ... I wonder how many folks got the Trivia question right before peeking at the answers? ;)

Thanks for mention of stamp drying books. A dealer there asked me to bring some, so the word has spread.

See you there Sunday. :D

Great newsletters as always Brian. 8) 8)

I am surprised more clubs do not employ your clever system of posting up the newsletter in COLOUR as a permanent Archive, accessible worldwide, and then save the club money by mailing the hard copies in monocolour.

That letter from Manfred is a great one to start a thread on .. can you please let me have the text of that via email and I'll start one to WARN readers of the necessity for decent grade envelopes .. a favorite hobby horse of mine. Did he add a scan of it .. that would be even better.

Brian,

 If you've got any specific topics you want covering, why not list them here, with an indication of how many words you need, etc...

...then if any members have expertise in that area, they may be able to give you what you need.

Thanks for response Gavin with suggestion.

With the Pope's visit here shortly I thought that I should devote part of next month's (May) newsletter to Papal stamps and covers. As I am unable to include too many graphics I would appreciate interesting anecdotes, customs and the like for my publication which is produced on my home computer running windows XP and using Microsoft Publisher to compile the narrative.
Naturally I will acknowledge any contributions that I publish with the newsletter handed to club members, mailed to postal members and posted here on this thread. Such exposure at absolutely no cost.

May 2008 Newsletter from Campbelltown-NSW

Post by brian31stamps »

Here follows the latest club newsletter which Stampboard members are able to preview in colour 2 weeks before club members get their copies in black & white!
If any stampboard member wishes to contribute to this newsletter their philatelic items of interest should be emailed to me at the address provided via the board. I welcome input and comment on the newsletter itself. I have broad shoulders and love a verbal stouch every now and then.

No I haven't gone mad and repeated myself. The earlier post was done using Photobuckets bulk uploader - can't get it to copy in the right size format so have reverted to the old uploader with a better result.

Thanks you Brian- fascinating as always. Love the peice about Sedang...I can see a trivia question forming :D :D

Hope you're keeping well.

Unfortunately we won't be in Sydney for the next Fishers Ghost event but it would be worth posting up a new thread- I'm sure there would be other Stampboarders who might be interested in catching up and maybe trying that great Thai restaurant again

Cheers

WOW Margo that was quick!! The ink had barely dried (showing my age again) before you had posted your reply.
Yes, I am well but so terribly busy with activities for two stamp clubs, my own collecting etc. etc.
I do intend to visit Stampboards more often, guess I will have borrow some matchsticks from Glen to prop my eyelids open so that I can post on the board later than 9.30pm.

A big high to all reading this post - keep up the good work and enjoy this wonderful facility.
