2013 $10 Kangaroo stamp + Perf “OS” and SPECIMEN. $A50 the Trio
2013 $10 Kangaroo stamp + Perf “OS” and SPECIMEN. $A50 the Trio
I bought these from the Australia Post stand at “EXPO 2013” in Melbourne.
Not sure if they were
only on sale at show - many things were, like the Black Caviar special printing sheets 10 I made a fortune on, as AP seemed to tell no-one about at all! I bought a carton full of those, as I could instantly see how good they'd be.
Those Caviars there cost $6.40 a sheetlet, and were selling for more than 10 times that within a month - up to $100 a pack, and many here were lucky to buy those in bulk off me for a fraction of that, and re-sold them at huge profits. And they were only 60c stamps!
I tried to order more of these special $10 Roos via my PO, and from Philatelic Bureau, when I got home, and neither could supply as they were sold out. I suspect there were a
lot less of these "OS" and "Specimen" stamps sold in number than the Caviar stamps.
The "OS" (Official Service) perfin is literally
punched into the stamp just as it was in 1913 - it is not little black circles printed on the stamp as it may look like in photo!
Anyway a most interesting and totally OFFICIAL sideline issue to the International show, that very few seem to realise were available. I mentioned these to a few folks at the stampboards stand, and suggested they buy some, and other than that these seem to have flown totally under everyone's radar!
2013 was the 100 Year "Centenary of the Kangaroo Stamps" issue. Australia's very first stamps. Those original 1913 Kangaroos were overprinted “Specimen” in this exact font – a MUH £2 “Specimen” MUH is cat $A3,500.
A Perf “OS” £2 1913 Kangaroo is cat $50,000 hinged – and
no MUH copies are recorded.
99.9% of collectors will never own either, so these are very handy spacefillers in a hingeless album etc, that has spaces for both.
They were produced officially by Australia Post, and are hence most interesting pieces. They undoubtedly will be listed and priced in many catalogues.
Prices subject to change without notice, so order early, as my stock cannot be replaced. The Black Caviar Packs I needed to crank up price on, several times.
I sell nothing on ebay as most know, but for those who do, offering the "Specimen" or "OS" as singles there at say
$30-$40 or so each “Buy It Now” might well rack up quite a few buyers, so I have offered some re-seller lots for that purpose, or simply to tuck away for the future.
Face value of each trio is $A30 a set.
A. One set of 3 as shown - MUH or CTO - $A50 (Stock code 628TF)
B. 1 set MUH & 1 set dated CTO with gum - (6) $A90 (Stock code 628E)
C. FIVE sets MUH or CTO - your choice - $A225 (15 stamps) - (Stock 628TG)
D. TEN sets MUH or CTO - your choice - $A390 (30 stamps) - (Stock 628TH)
You need to specify whether you want MUH
or CTO with gum -
or a mix of both. The CTO as you can see all have clear date on centre $10 stamp.
All post is extra. $2 global airmail for all orders at your risk - add $12 if you wish me to use another $10 Roo very lightly cancelled as your franking. (Nearly non existent used, and this use will be in normal validity period.
Our highest face value Commemorative stamp in history.)
Ozzies add $4 if Reg'd label required. Foreign add $15 for Reg'd air in the pre-paid satchel, or $20 if you want stamps to be used, or $24 if you want 2 of the x $10 Roos used VFU on your Reg'd sending.

NOTE: - All parcels leaving me for members have valuable CTO cancelled GEMS as part of the franking!

NO "20% Buyer Fees" to add to
my prices, as in auction!

All stampboard lots $A200 and under are mailed
Unregistered.
If Reg'd is required,
STATE that on order form - cost is extra $A4 local, and minimum $A13 extra foreign. Only
YOU know if your street address is secure - a large packet covered in pretty stamps left outside, just might tempt passers-by? PO Boxes are far safer.
'All risk' Insurance is always possible if required, at $A2 per $100 covered - again it
must be specified on order form.
As per stampboard convention - this lot is offered exclusively first to board members - and on no other sales venue.
For members who make a BANK TRANSFER payment you WILL generally get your goods faster, as it saves me some hassle - but you MUST email me the confirmation number etc - many "forget"!
