Turkey postage stamps to honour G20 leaders

Post by kbdessai »

Greetings!

It appears that Turkey has issued certain postage stamps to honour G20 leaders. The G20 Summit of 2015 took place in Antalya, Turkey.

The Indian media reports that Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, is among the leaders honoured through a postage stamp by Turkey. Other leaders include US President Barack Obama, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, UK Prime Minister David Cameroon, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, Brazilian President Dilma Roussef, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and European Council President Donald Tusk.

I have a few doubts about this:

1. Is this a commemorative stamp, or a personalised stamp?
(some of the Indian media mentioned it to be a personalised stamp)

2. Will these G20 stamps be used on mail, just like other commemoratives and definitives?

3. How many of such G20 stamps have been issued? (the total number)

4. Are they available only in sheets?

5. Are they available for sale? If yes, where?

Thanks

These are "personalized" stamps.

34 different stamps in 1 sheet and 33 different stamps in sheets of 25. So a total of 67 different.

67 times TL2.80 is TL187.60 is US$65.40. Pricey set if they are available to collectors. No idea if they are.

First sentence translates something like: G20 leaders customized stamps, presented by president Erdogan to the attending world leaders.

Good joke  .... funny, but at this time with those leaders struggling to deal with what has happened and the realisation that the world has suddenly been changed forever, not funny. Sorry.

Yes, but can they be postally used? Or are they just mementos?

For instance, India Post has a scheme under which you can get your photo printed on a customised postage stamp. Those personalised stamps can be postally used as well.

Yes, they can be but I'm not sure they would be widely. As far as I can undertand, the initiative was from the Turkish goverment, and the major part of the print run (if not the entire one) were given as a present from the Turkish host to the heads of foreign delegations to the summit, as a kind of gift.
