People like being able to personalise their user handle with a photo of some kind, generally called an Avatar on Bulletin Boards.
We ask that **ALL** members choose some kind of avatar. We don't care if it is a stamp photo, your photo, your Mum's photo, of Donald Trump's photo, or Mickey Mouse etc ...... just please choose SOMETHING!
To add one go into your account via the "EDIT PROFILE" tab on top each page, and add an avatar imae of your choice.
At the top right of the page YOUR user name should appear next to the word Notifications. Click on that triangle next to your name in the drop down options.
Edit Profile is one of the options. See step-by-step images of it below -

The fastest way to get something temporary to kick off with is go to google and type a simple thing like "USA stamps" or "Australian Stamps" etc (if you want a US or oz based avatar!)
Then click the "IMAGES" heading along top bar of google. You'll see 100s of stamp pix that are already avatar size small. PERFECT FOR OUR USE!!
Just "save" the one you like and add it here if less than 165 pixel longest size.
If you get stuck, ask one of our 25 or so Volunteer Moderators for a helping hand - whoever is on the board at that time!
Better still if you open a free http://www.IMGUR.com account, you can take ANY large stamp image, and quickly size it down to the 165 x 165 max we use here for avatars.
OR, if you want to take a stamp or cover from your own images on your computer, or off another stamp image you see on the web, you can EASILY make that image your avatar - - full details are here:

This is Rule 6 re Avatars -
6. Please add an "avatar" image of your choice
EVERY member of stampboards.com needs to select some kind of avatar to use under their user handle. Look around you, and see what other members use. It can be your photo, your Mum or your pet etc. Or something light hearted or stylistic, or a photo of a stamp or cover of your collecting area, which is what most members prefer. Anything too large or in bad taste will be removed or replaced. Any avatar that the Moderators deem likely to cause offence to some other members, will also be replaced. 165 x 165 is the maximum allowed, and that is FAR larger than most boards. Static images preferred - any animated images deemed too distracting, well, no-one likes those in general, and we will ask you to re-think.
