Great Britain Department Officials Plate Letters
Hello,
I am looking for information regarding plate letters for the following stamps.
SG 04 6d Grey plate 18 ( L-5 ) Inland Revenue Official
SG 06 2 1/2d Lilac ( L-4 ) Inland Revenue Official
SG 07 1s Dull Green ( L-6 ) Inland Revenue Official
SG 010 10s Ultramarine ( L-8 ) Inland Revenue Official
SG 061 11/2 Lilac ( L-18 ) Government Parcels
SG 062 6d Dull Green ( L-19 ) Government Parcels
SG 063 9d Dull Green ( L-20 ) Government Parcels
SG 064 1s Orange/Brown Plate 13 and 14 ( L-21 / L-22 ) Government Parcels
What I am looking for is does anyone know where I might find the information to tell me what plate letters did all the above start at and finish at, I have seen A-A as a starting letters for most of the above and have also seen T-J but not found any past this.
I have been unable to find any information regarding this, I thought that they might run the same letters used in penny red stars but cant find any details.
If anyone can help regarding where I might find this information or help with any other details I would be very great full.
Regards
Andy

Re: Great Britain Department Officials Plate Letters
They are overprints on the basic postage stamps.
They are check letters in the corners to prevent forgeries and the stamps being used twice,
240 stamps to the sheet.
20 rows of 12 across.
AA to AL
BA to BL
down to
TA to TL,
David B.

The information you seek is on the first page of the Great Britain section of your SG part 1 catalogue.

Andy, in your welcome email you were asked to make your first post in our "Welcome / Rollcall" thread. I've included a link here, because we all delete those mails when we've had our accounts activated:
http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10277&start=21400
We don't want War and Peace, or your life history, but a quick sentence or two introducing yourself there with a brief note of your collecting interests would be great!
Many members do read those intros and extend a warm welcome, and often good connections are made between collectors with similar interests.

Please add your mark there before posting across the boards - cheers!

Have just added two images to help with any information regarding the check letters my understanding was that the letters only went from A-A to A-L, B-A to B-L up to T-A / T-L but as you can see SG 06 I have found stamps with check letters L-T and F-Q any help on any other check letters for any of the Government Officials would be very helpful, many thanks Andy

Your images don't show on my screen.
These stamps were produced in 2 panes, the left pane's corner letters are AA to AJ down to LA to LJ.
The right pane letters are AK to AT down to LK to LT.

Is the first one.
And here's a page to tell you how to avoid typing 2 1/2d and type 2½d instead. Not getting at you, just getting you used to our ways of making people easily understand what you are writing about. https://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=10082

The last step for posting images is to just remove the 's' in 'https'.
