- Cover from Henry Ford office
One of my interests are automobiles. Within this topic, Ford has a special place, so one of my collections is about Ford: stamps, stationery, covers, postcards, scale models, books, and so on.
My focus is on official Ford covers, official Ford dealer covers and covers with meter cancels with Ford advertising.
I start this thread to show some of my material. If there is already a similar thread, please let me know. I did not find any (yet).
If someone has similar covers, please feel free to share. It can help me with compiling a list of existing material.
I don't think I have to introduce Henry Ford and the Ford Motor Company. I will refer to Wikipedia for this.
I will start with a cover which has a special place in my collection.
It is a cover from Henry Ford himself (or from his office). With content!
The letter is written and signed by V.L. Shevlin on May 5th, 1930 to Adam Zeile in Wurttemberg, Germany. V.L. Shevlin was an assistant secretary of Henry Ford. Not sure if male or female.
In "Friends, Families & Forays: Scenes from the Life and Times of Henry Ford" by Ford R. Bryan information is found that he/she was already an assistant secretary in 1924 (ref: https://books.google.be/books?id=9DrJz4egJEYC).
On Picclick, I found an image of another letter signed by V.L. Shevlin in 1934 (ref: https://picclick.com/Henry-Ford-Reply-To-Request-August-28-1934-164919330543.html).
The cover is dated May 6th and was posted in Dearborn, Michigan, USA, location of the main headquarters of Ford Motor Company. On the back is an arrival cancel of Sindelfingen on May 19th.
A 5c stamp from 1922 was used (SW 468D with perforation 11 x 10 1/2).
